HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE [2005]

Dark And Difficult Times Lie Ahead

Now we're all settled in and sorted, I'd like to make an announcement.
This castle will not only be your home this year, but home to some very special guests as well.
Hogwarts has been chosen to host a legendary event, The Triwizard Tournament.
For those of you who do not know, The Triwizard Tournament brings together 3 schools for a series of magical contests.
From each school, a single student is selected to compete.
Let me be clear, if chosen, you stand alone.
And trust me when I say, these contests are not for the faint-hearted.
~Prof. Albus Dumbledore

 Hermione: Alastor Moody? The Auror?
Ron: Dark-wizard catcher. Half the cells in Azkaban are filled thanks to him.

Prof. Moody: Weasley, give us a curse.
Ron: My dad did tell me about one. The Imperius Curse.
Prof. Moody: Oh yeah, your father would know all about that.
Gave the Ministry quite a bit of grief a few years ago.
Perhaps this will show you why.
[He demonstrate the curse with the spider]
Talented, isn't she?
What should I have her do next? Jump out the window? Drown herself?
Scores of witches and wizards have claimed that they only did You-Know-Who's bidding under the influence of the Imperius Curse.
But here's the rub, how do we sort out the liars?
Longbottom, isn't it?
Professor Sprout tells me you have an aptitude for herbology.
Neville: There's the Crutiatus Curse.
Prof. Moody: Correct, correct. Come, come. Particularly nasty.
The torture curse. [to the spider] Crucio!
Hermione: Stop it! Can't you see it's bothering him? Stop it!
Prof. Moody, put the spider in front of Hermione: Perhaps you could give us the last Unforgivable Curse, Miss Granger.
[Hermione shakes her head]
No?
Avada Kedavra! [the spider dead] The Killing Curse.
Only one person is known to have survived it and he's sitting in this room.

Prof. Dumbledore: The Durmstrang champion is Viktor Krum.
The champion for Beauxbatons is Fleur Delacour.
The Hogwarts champion, Cedric Diggory.
Excellent! We now have our 3 champions.
But in the end, only one will go down in history.
Only one will hoist this chalice of champions, this vessel of victory, The Triwizard Cup!
[the flame still burn one more paper of champion's name]
Harry Potter? Harry Potter?
Prof. Dumbledore: Harry, did you put your name in the Goblet of Fire?
Harry: No, sir.
Prof. Dumbledore: Did you ask one of the older students to do it for you?
Harry: No, sir.
Prof. Dumbledore: You're absolutely sure?
Harry: Yes, yes, sir.
Madame Maxime: But of course he is lying.
Prof. Moody: The hell he is!
The Goblet of Fire is an exceptionally powerful magical object.
Only an exceptionally powerful Confundus Charm could've hoodwinked it.
Magic way beyond the talents of a fourth year.
Igor: You seem to have given this a fair bit of thought, Mad-Eye.
Prof. Moody: It was once my job to think as dark wizards do, Karkaroff, perhaps you remember.
Prof. Dumbledore: Leave this to you, Barty.
 Barty: The rules are absolute.
The Goblet of Fire constitutes a binding magical contract.
Mr. Potter has no choice.
He is, as of tonight, a Triwizard Champion.
Prof. Moody: What are you going to do about your dragon?
Harry: Well, you know, I just thought I'd...
Prof. Moody: Listen to me, Potter.
Your pal, Diggory?
By your age, he could turn a whistle into a watch and have it sing you the time.
Miss Delacour? She's as much a fairy princess as I am.
As for Krum, his head may be filled with sawdust, but Karkaroff's is not.
They'll have a strategy.
And you can bet that it will play to Krum's strengths.
Come on, Potter, what are your strengths?
Harry: I don't know.
Well, I can fly, I mean, I'm a fair flyer, but I...
Prof. Moody: Better than fair, the way I heard it.
Harry: But I'm not allowed a broom.
Prof. Moody: You're allowed a wand.

These represent 4 very real dragons, each of which has been given a golden egg to protect.
Your objective is simple, collect the egg.
This you must do, for each egg contains a clue,
without which you cannot hope to proceed to the next task.
~Barty Crouch

Harry, whispering to Ron: Why do they always travel in packs?
How are you supposed to get one on their own to ask them?
[approaching Cho's but couldn't say a word and then they walk away]
Ron: Blimey, Harry, you've slayed dragon. If you can't get a date, who can?
Harry: I think I'd take the dragon right now.

Hermione: Next time there's a ball, pluck up the courage and ask me before somebody else does!
And not as a last resort!
Ron: I mean, that's just completely off the point.
[to Harry] They get scary when they get older.
Hermione: Ron, you spoiled everything!

Neville: If you're interested in plants, you'd better off with Goshawk's Guide to Herbology.
Do you know there's a wizard in Nepal who's growing gravity-resistant trees?
Harry: Neville, no offense, but I really don't care about plants.
Now, if there's a Tibetan turnip that will allow me to breathe underwater for an hour than great.
But otherwise...
Neville: I don't know about turnip, but you could always use gillyweed.

Curiosity is not a sin, Harry. But you should exercise caution.
~Prof. Albus Dumbledore

Harry: Sir, these dreams, what I see, you don't think it's actually happening, do you?
Prof. Dumbledore: I think it's unwise for you to linger over these dreams, Harry.
I think it's best if you simply cast them away.

In the maze, you'll find no dragons or creatures of the deep.
Instead, you'll face something even more challenging.
People change in the maze.
Oh, find the cup if you can.
But be very wary, you could just lose yourselves along the way.
~Prof. Albus Dumbledore.

Bone of the father unwillingly given.
Flesh of the servant willingly sacrificed.
And blood of the enemy forcibly taken.
The Dark Lord shall rise again.

I'd introduce you, but word has it you're almost as famous as me these days.
The boy who lived.
How lies have fed your legend, Harry.
Shall I reveal what really happened that night 13 years ago?
Shall I divulge how I truly lost my powers?
It was love.
You see, when dear, sweet Lily Potter gave her life for her only son
she provided the ultimate protection.
I could not touch him.
It was old magic.
Something I should have foreseen.
But no matter, no matter, things have changed.
I can touch you now.
~Voldemort

I'm going to kill you, Harry Potter. I'm going to destroy you.
After tonight, no one will ever again question my powers.
After tonight, if they speak of you, they'll speak only of how you begged for death.
And I, being a merciful Lord, obliged.
~Voldemort

Don't you dare turn your back on me, Harry Potter!
I want you to look at me when I kill you!
I want to see the light leave your eyes!
~Voldemort

Harry: It was the Portkey. Someone had bewitched it.
Prof. Moody: What was it like? What was he like?
Harry: Who?
Prof. Moody: The Dark Lord.
What was it like to stand in his presence?
Harry: I don't know.
It was like I'd fallen into one of my dreams, into one of my nightmares.
Prof. Moody: Were there others? In the graveyard, were there others?
Harry: I... I don't think I said anything about a graveyard, Professor.
Prof. Moody: "Marvelous creatures, dragons, aren't they?"
Did you think that oaf would've led you into the woods if I hadn't suggested it?
Do you think Cedric Diggory would've told you to open the egg underwater if I hadn't told him first myself?
Do you think Neville Longbottom, the witless wonder, could've provided you with the gillyweed if I hadn't given him the book that led him straight to it, huh?
Harry: It was you from the beginning. You put my name in the Goblet of Fire.
You bewitched Krum, but you...
Prof. Moody: You won because I made it so, Potter.
You ended up in that graveyard tonight because it was meant to be so.
And now the deed is done.
The blood that runs through these veins runs within the Dark Lord.

Dark and difficult times lie ahead.
Soon we must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.
But remember this, you have friends here. You're not alone.
~Prof. Albus Dumbledore

WAR OF THE WORLDS [2005]

They're Already Here

No one would have believed in the early years of the 21st century
that our world was being watched by intelligences greater than our own,
that as men busied themselves about their various concerns,
they observed and studied,
the way a man with a microscope might scrutinize the creatures that swarm
and multiply in a drop of water.
With infinite complacency, men went to and fro about the globe,
confident of our empire over this world.
Yet across the gulf of space, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic
regarded our planet with envious eyes,
and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.
~Narrator

Rachel: It hit right behind our house.
Ray: Yeah, well, it's not gonna hit there again, okay?
Because lightning doesn't strike twice in the same place.
[the lightning strike] Oh, shit!
Rachel, hide under the table with Ray: Where's Robbie?
Ray: I don't know.
Rachel: Is Robbie okay?
[the lightning keep hitting] Are you okay?
Ray: Where's the thunder?
Rachel: Why won't it stop?

Are we still alive?
~Rachel

Ray: Where were you?
News Producer: Out there in the Pine Barrens.
We were attached to a National Guard unit. The 83rd Mechanized.
They moved on one of those things around midnight.
They got some kind of shield around them.
You can't see it, but everything we fire at them detonates too early.
before we can get close enough to cause any damage.
When they flash that thing, everything lights up like Hiroshima.
Ray: There's more than one?
News Producer: You gotta be kidding me, right?
We were feeding New York, but New York went dark.
So we patched over D.C, they went down. L.A., Chicago, uplinked to London.
Even called the affiliates to try to get them to catch the feed but nobody answers.
It's the same everywhere.
Once the Tripods start to move, no more news comes out of that area.

Ray: Okay, hard-ass, what's your plan, huh? You're in charge now! Tell me what we're doing.
Robbie: Catch up with these soldiers!
Hook up with whoever else isn't dead and we get back at them. That's what we do.
Ray: Let's try one that doesn't involve your 10-year-old sister joining the army.
You have anything like that?
Robbie: Just tell us the truth. You wanna come off all wise and shit!
You only chose Boston because you hope Mom is there.
And if she's there, you can dump us on her.
You can dump us on her, then you'll only have to care about yourself,
which is exactly the way you like it.

Robbie, where are you trying to go?
What are you trying to do?
Who's gonna take care of me if you go?
~Rachel

Harlan: Those machines, those tripods they got? They buried them. Right under our feet.
Since before there were even people here.
They've been planning this for a million years.
We're beat to shit.
Ray: Please, my daughter...
Harlan: Think about it.
They defeated the greatest power in the world in a couple days.
Walked right over us.
And these are only the first. They'll keep coming.
This is not a war anymore than there's a war between men and maggots.
This is an extermination.

I drive an ambulance in the city... drove an ambulance in the city.
That's all over now, huh?
You know the people that make it, Ray?
The ones that don't flatline before the hospital?
It's the ones that keep their eyes open. That keep looking at you. Keep thinking.
They're the ones that survive.
We can't lose our heads, Ray.
Running, that's what'll kill you.
And I'm dead set on living.
~Harlan Ogilvy

Ray: Why did you bring us here?
Harlan: To fight them together, Ray.
We'll be the ones coming up from underground.
When the time is right, take them by surprise, the way they took us. Take them by surprise.
We're right under their feet, Ray. Right here, under their feet.

Harlan, to Rachel: If anything happens to your daddy, I will take care of you.
Ray, to Harlan: You don't have anything to say to her, do you understand?
If you wanna talk to somebody, if you wanna ask a question, you ask me.

What exactly is your plan, Ray?
I know what I'm gonna do. How about you?
You gonna sit here? Wait for them to come get you? Is that your plan?
Maybe you wanna get caught.
Couple days hiding in a basement too much for you, I bet.
You'll probably turn yourself right in.
Maybe you'll be okay.
Maybe you'll get lucky, and they'll train you as their pet.
Feed you, train you how to do tricks.
~Harlan Ogilvy

You and me, I don't think we're on the same page.
~Harlan Ogilvy

Do you understand what I'm gonna have to do?
I can't let my daughter die because of you.
~Ray Ferrier

From the moment the invaders arrived, breathed our air, ate and drank, they were doomed. They were undone, destroyed, after all of man's weapons and devices had failed,
by the tiniest creatures that God in His wisdom put upon this earth.
By the toll of a billion deaths, man had earned his immunity,
his right to survive among this planet's infinite organisms.
And that right is ours against all challenges,
for neither do men live, nor die, in vain.
~Narrator

KING KONG [2005]

The Eighth Wonder Of The World

Every time you reach out for something you care about
fate come along and snatches it away.
But not this time, Annie. Not this time.
~Harry

Good things never last, Mr. Denham.
~Ann Darrow

Carl: I keep telling you, Jack, there's no money in theater.
You're much better off sticking with film.
Jack: I don't do it for the money, Carl.
I happen to love the theater.
Carl: No, you don't.
If you really loved it, you would have jumped.

Hayes: If someone were to tell you this ship was headed for Singapore what would you say?
Lumpy: I would say they're full of it, Mr. Hayes.
Well, we turned southwest last night.
Carl: Gentlemen, please, we're not looking for trouble.
Jimmy: No. You're looking for something else.
Carl: Yes, we are. We're going to find Skull Island.
Find it, film it, and show it to the world.
For 25 cents, you get to see the last blank space on the map.
Lumpy: I wouldn't be so sure of that.
Preston: What do you mean?
Lumpy: 7 years ago, me and Mr. Hayes were working our passage on a Norwegian bark.
We picked up a castaway. We found him in the water. He'd been drifting for days.
Lumpy: His ship had run aground on an island way west of Sumatera.
 An island hidden in fog.
He spoke of a huge wall, built so long ago, no one knew who'd made it.
A wall of 100 foot high, as strong today as it was ages ago.
Preston: Why'd they build the wall?
Lumpy: Well, the castaway, he spoke of a creature, neither beast nor man,
but something monstrous, living behind that wall.
Carl: A lion or a tiger. A man-eater. That's how all these stories start.
Preston: What else did he say?
 Lumpy: Nothing.
We found him the next morning, he'd stuck a knife through his heart.
Carl: Sorry, fellows, you'll have to do better than that.
 Monsters belong in B movies.
Hayes: If you find this place, if you go ashore with your friends and your cameras, you won't come back.
Just as long as you understand that.

Jimmy: Why does Marlow keep going up the river?
Why doesn't he turn back?
Hayes: There's a part of him that wants to, Jimmy.
A part deep inside himself that sounds a warning.
But there's another part, that needs to know.
To defeat the thing which makes him afraid.
"We could not understand because we were too far and could not remember,
because we were traveling in the night of first ages,
of those ages that are gone, leaving hardly a sign and no memories.
We are accustomed to look upon the shackled form of a conquered monster
but there... there you could look at a thing monstrous and free."
Jimmy: It's not an adventurous story, is it, Mr. Hayes?
 Hayes: No, Jimmy, it's not.

Baxter: Miss Darrow was a great gal, no question.
And she was a wonderful person.
It's a terrible loss and we're all gonna miss her.
Jack: I always knew you were nothing like the tough guy you play on screen.
I just never figured you for a coward.
Baxter: Hey, pal! Hey, wake up!
Heroes don't look like me, not in the real world.
In the real world they got bad teeth, a bald spot, and a beer gut.
I'm just an actor with a gun, who's lost his motivation.

Hayes: If anything happens, I want you to run. You understand?
Jimmy: I'm not a coward. I ain't gonna run.
Hayes: It's not about being brave, Jimmy.

Just as you go down for the third and final time
as you heard disappears beneath the waves and your lungs fill with water
do you know what happens in those last precious seconds before you drown?
Your whole life passes before your eyes.
~Carl Denham

Carl: You got a boat full of chloroform we could put to good use.
Englehorn: You wanna trap the ape? [laughing] I don't think so.
Carl: Isn't that what you do? Live animal capture? I heard you were the best.

The whole world will pay to see this.
We're millionaire, boys! I'll share it with all of you!
In a few months his name will be up in lights on Broadway!
Kong, The Eight Wonder of the World!
~Carl Denham

Preston: He was right, about there still being some mystery left in this world, and we can all have a piece of it, for the price of an admission ticket.
Jack: That's the thing you come to learn about Carl.
His unfailing ability to destroy the things he loves.

Man: What does it matter? Airplanes got him.
Carl: It wasn't the airplane.
It was beauty killed the beast.
